Hi, I'm Sam! I'm an illustrator and experienced teacher based in Canada, known for creating fantastical places, hidden worlds, and atmospheric scenes using ink and pencil.
I would like to invite you to my free workshop, where we will focus on creating a world in just 60 minutes. Together, we will transform your blank page into an imaginative landscape.

What you will learn:
Find the idea before you start drawing
We will begin with a simple prompt or shape and show how you turn something vague into a visual idea.
Thumbnail first, draw second
I will show you how quickly you can explore a few tiny compositions before committing to the final drawing.
Turn your thumbnail into a believable little world
We will then choose one thumbnail and develop it further with major shapes, textures, details and simple shading.

Hi, I'm Sam.
I’m an illustrator and experienced teacher based in Canada, best known for drawing fantastical places, hidden worlds, and atmospheric scenes in ink and pencil.
Over the years, I’ve taught thousands of artists how to approach perspective, composition, world-building, and drawing from imagination in a way that feels practical, approachable, and less intimidating.
My work is rooted in traditional tools, simple marks, and the belief that you don’t need perfect references, rulers, or complicated systems to create a believable world. You just need a way in.
