Want to Learn How to Draw Organic Shapes in Perspective?

Drawing things like rivers, trees, mountains, and little houses from imagination can feel tricky, especially when you want them to sit naturally inside a wider landscape.

So I thought this would be a helpful place to start.

I’ve taken one of the lessons from my upcoming course, Draw Imaginary Worlds in Ink & Pencil, and made it available as a free preview for those joining the waiting list.

In this video, I’ll show you how to use simple 3D shapes as a starting point, then turn them into more organic landscape elements, like rivers, lakes, trees, houses, and mountains without getting stuck in strict perspective rules.

When you join, you’ll get instant access to:

✅ A free video lesson from inside the course

✅ A simple approach to drawing organic shapes in perspective

✅ First access when the full course opens

✅ A special waiting list offer at launch

The full course will go much deeper into drawing imaginary worlds from your sketchbook, from freehand perspective and texture to composition, scene-building, and finishing a complete ink and pencil drawing. But this free lesson will give you a clear, simple starting point for making landscape forms feel more believable.

Hi, I'm Sam.

I’m an illustrator and experienced teacher based in Canada, best known for drawing fantastical places, hidden worlds, and atmospheric scenes in ink and pencil.

Over the years, I’ve taught thousands of artists how to approach perspective, composition, world-building, and drawing from imagination in a way that feels practical, approachable, and less intimidating.

My work is rooted in traditional tools, simple marks, and the belief that you don’t need perfect references, rulers, or complicated systems to create a believable world. You just need a way in.

In this course, I’ll walk you through the same process I use to build imaginary scenes from scratch, from the first pencil framework and freehand perspective choices to texture, shading, ink, and the final atmosphere of the piece.
